Workshop Overview:

Join us for a fun day of learning ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). This training will benefit any mental health professional wanting to  learn and experientially apply concepts from ACT in a fun and engaging way! This training will be an experiential way to explore all six core ACT processes of the hexaflex (present moment, acceptance, committed action, defusion, values, self as context). This workshop will be full of practical examples and templates that you can take to your clinical work immediately following the training. In addition an integral part of this training is the creation of a community of like minded and passionate mental health professionals as collaboration and a deep network of connection among professionals has always been at the forefront in ACT communities.

Facilitators:

Tara Simpson has been a psychologist for two decades and became an ACT enthusiast in 2013 when she attended one of the first ACT Reno Bootcamps led by ACT founders Steven Hayes, Kelly Wilson, & Kirk Strosohl. 

Lucienne Henry is a passionate psychologist who has learned ACT from Russ Harris and incorporates fresh new perspectives of the model.

This workshop is ideal for:

  • Registered Psychologists and other mental health practitioners who work with a variety of populations.
  • Suitable for all levels of ACT practitioners from beginners to seasoned enthusiasts.

Learning Objectives:

  • Have a clear understanding of the 6 core processes of ACT, (Defusion, Acceptance, Self as Context, Mindfulness, Values and Commitment) while also understanding how they relate to a flexible way of being such as Fused (rules, judgments, past and future), Experientially avoiding,living in the Dis’es (Disengaged, disconnected, distracted), remoteness from values, unworkable actions, fusion with self concept.
  • Experientially engage in and practice physical and verbal metaphors and understandings of these processes to use with clientele
  • Understand the role of the practitioner in engaging in flexibility and workability with clientele in order to provide the best level of care and to step out of performance or self identification with client “progress” or goals.

CE Credits

Cirrus Psychology Services is approved by the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Cirrus Psychology Services maintains responsibility for all programs and content.

This workshop is offered for seven (7) hours of CE Credit. Full attendance at the workshop is required to receive Continuing Education Credits. Partial credit will not be awarded, and late arrivals or early departure will preclude awarding of Continuing Education Credits. 

Cancellation and Refunds

Cancellation and refunds may be applied for by email or phone. Cancellations received fourteen (14) days prior to the workshop will receive a full refund of the registration fee, less a $35.00 + GST processing fee. Cancellations received thirteen (13) days or less prior to the workshop will be exempt from receiving a refund. Partial refunds will not be awarded.
